About SIP GeoDNS

This SIP GeoDNS lookup tool performs DNS queries from multiple geographic locations to help you understand how DNS records may vary based on location. This is particularly useful for identifying geographic load balancing, CDN configurations, and regional DNS differences.

The tool queries DNS records from six different geographic regions:

  • πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ North America (US) - Used as the primary baseline for comparison
  • πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Europe (Germany) - European DNS perspective
  • πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Asia (Japan) - Asian DNS perspective
  • πŸ‡§πŸ‡· South America (Brazil) - South American DNS perspective
  • πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Africa (South Africa) - African DNS perspective
  • πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Oceania (Australia) - Oceanic DNS perspective

Records that differ from the primary region (US) are highlighted with yellow background and include an information icon (ℹ️) that you can click to see detailed differences.

How GeoDNS Works

GeoDNS (Geographic DNS) is a technique that returns different DNS responses based on the geographic location of the querying client. This is commonly used for:

  • Load Balancing: Directing users to the nearest server
  • CDN Integration: Routing to appropriate content delivery networks
  • Compliance: Ensuring data stays within specific geographic regions
  • Performance: Reducing latency by serving content from nearby servers

The EDNS Client Subnet (ECS) extension allows DNS servers to see a portion of the client's IP address, enabling more accurate geographic routing decisions.
